Our founder, the late Nev Thomas, had a dream that all Western Australians, no matter what their ability, should have the opportunity to enjoy the simple pleasures of fishing.

Fishability in its current form was developed from this program and is a not for profit, registered charitable organisation.

Fishability has been providing accessible fishing opportunities for children and adults that require support to experience the joy of fishing for over 20 Years. Our programs are run by trained and experienced volunteers and include the use of accessible fishing gear such as purpose-built motorised rods, reels and fishing holders. Fishability assist fishers in the following ways:

  • Organised shore, jetty and boat based fishing activities
  • Acts in an advocacy role in promoting inclusive participation in recreational fishing.
  • Wheelchair accessible vessels for guided river, ocean and estuary fishing trips
  • Advice on universally accessible fishing locations and facilities
