Fishability Albany has been running in the region since 2017.

The team of volunteers led by the Program Coordinator Timothy Vokins (0466 605 233) and assisted by John May (0429 883 989) deliver a weekly fishing activity on Friday mornings at Emu Point Jetty between 9.00am and 11.30am.

In 2018, Fishability Albany, in partnership with Sailability and Princess Royal Sailing Club, introduced a boat activity.  ‘The Responder’ boat activity is held Friday fortnightly and is open to any person with special needs.  There are limited numbers, so booking is essential.

JK Backhouse is the Albany Boat Program Coordinator (0428 144 181).

All fishing activities are at NO cost to participants. Fishability provide all the fishing equipment. Our volunteers are all police cleared and hold current Working with Children Cards.

All of our activities are SunSmart and we encourage all participants, support workers and volunteers to adhere to our SunSmart policy and wear suitable clothing for the conditions.

We require participants to be a minimum of 1.2 metres high for the vessel activities and we recommend that participants are a minimum of 1.2 metres high for the jetty activities.

Please bring suitable clothing, coats and hats and enclosed shoes, for the weather conditions plus a drink and snack if you like.

Bookings are essential. Click on “Book an Activity” to make a booking.

If the activity is to be cancelled due to inclement weather, you will receive an email the day before.

Please Note: While Fishability, and its volunteers, employ safe fishing practices, there are inherent risks associated with fishing that are out of the control of Fishability and its volunteers. By registering for fishing activities, participants assume their own responsibility to those risks inherent with the activity.
